Tullamore Dew
The call of the distilleries and brands disappeared when the industry implosion Irish is a big one. Kilbeggan Locke (now revived under Cooley), Dundalk, Bandon Allman, Comber and Tullamore are some of the famous distillers and respected that just was unable to perform, no matter how good people thought it was whiskey.
Most brands, simply disappeared, the names of whiskey distillers and slowly fall into a vague memory past. Some, however, managed to get ahead. Tullamore Dew is one of them. There is also a story of Irish industry in miniature.
The distillery was built in Tullamore in 1829 and was bequeathed to the family of Daly in 1857. In 1887, Captain Daly, a man more interested in playing polo, horse racing and hunting – Daniel E. Manager Williams. Williams was a bit like an Irish Jack Daniel, who joined the factory at 15 and quickly made his way to this high post. The fact that a country gentleman like Captain Daly was involved in making country is proof whiskey wealthy landowners began to take over the distillery and the farmers of the rural population has decreased and the new laws were approved.
Williams expansion distillery, started exporting and created a new brand triple distilled still shaft, Tullamore Dew (the "pink" taken from his initials) that was sold with the slogan "to each his dew. The quality of his eight years with whiskey moved often crusty old historian Alfred Barnard poetry. Finally, the Daly family sold their shares to "Williams, but he was popular, could not even keep the distillery in operation. In 1954, Tullamore distillery closed.
It was a difficult time for Irish whiskey. The government, for reasons known only to himself, Whisky exports limited during the Second World War, arguing that it would be prepared to ensure the supply in the domestic market and to continue taking guaranteed income. The UK government, meanwhile, had decided that all the whiskey industry was hit, some distilleries could remain open and Exports should continue. It was a huge mistake by the Irish. When the government raised taxes again in 1952, the writing was on the wall of the distillery as Williams "Tullamore. Not at all could support so many brands on the market. Fortunately, Tullamore Dew was recorded when the company was sold to power in 1965 and the next year is part of Irish Distillers portfolio. Today it is owned by Cantrell & Cochrane, but the whiskey made in Midleton. A blend of classic traditional pot still with a grain of light, which is on the lighter end of the spectrum, but a version of 12 years shows a lot more weight – probably a higher percentage of ever.
Clarity Total applauded by Germany and, more recently, American palates. The People are interested in the brand new and Cantrell & Cochrane opened a heritage center in the old distillery site in Tullamore. All pretty good, but you can not help but wonder what would happen if …

On the lighter side of Ireland fence. Clean, light crispy, but not very exciting. * Tullamore Dew 12 years, so different from the standard bottling that one wonders whether it is a principle the block. Ripe, fleshy and rich, it's trying. ***(*)
